Wizards of the Coast

In 1999, Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) obtained the license for producing the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). They initiated this new era with the debut of the first Pokémon card set, named Base Set, in the same year. WOTC continued to publish each subsequent set up until 2003 when Nintendo regained the licensing rights and assumed control over the production.
